Governing Council
Meet Our New Chairperson
Hi Para Vista Community,
Firstly, I would like to say Nginti ngruntar. Ngapi ngulun Kaurna meli yamalai mathawi alyenik ruwald. Hello everyone, I would like to acknowledge the Kaurna people as the traditional custodians of the Adelaide Plains.
My name is Tara, and I am the proud mum of 3 children who currently attend Para Vista Primary School. They identify as Ngarrindjeri and as Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara. I am very active in making sure my children are proud of their culture and heritage. I have previously worked with the Ngarrindjeri Elders in Tumake Yande Aboriginal Aged Care from Raukkan, Meningie, Murray Bridge, Mount Barker through to Victor Harbor. I also support my community by volunteering to co-coach soccer for the Ingle Farm Soccer Club. I am new to this role but love a challenge.
This year I have the opportunity to be Chairperson of the Governing Council. It is great to be back amongst the Para Vista Community, having fond memories of attending this school myself, from Preschool to year 7. I will also continue the role of Governing Council representative on the Canteen Committee.
Our Governing Council is made up of returning members, Michelle, Karran, Ceryle, John, Nathan and Khanwal, and we would like to welcome our new member Moni. All of these member have children that are currently attending Para Vista PS. Our staff representative position this year will be shared by Caitlyn Hall and Lauren Burton. All members bring with them a wealth of knowledge and skills that are invaluable to our Governing Council.
I currently regularly volunteer in the Canteen, alongside our managers Michelle and Karran, both who do a wonderful job. We have a few canteen volunteers but would love more. Look our for our canteen specials which will be advertised on various platforms such as Seesaw and the Newsletter. We hope everyone continues to support the canteen so that it helps it to remain open for years to come.
I am looking forward to my new role as Chairperson and hearing feedback from families, staff and the community on how we can provide opportunities for the students of Para Vista Primary School.
Thank you,
Tara.
