Mission & Faith Life
Ash Wednesday
Today, the College participated in the Ash Wednesday liturgy. Ash Wednesday is the first day of the liturgical season of Lent. It is the 40 days leading up to Easter. Lent is a quiet season of reflection and conversion of heart - turning away from sin and being faithful to the Gospel. It is a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving (charitable giving) to develop a closer relationship with God. At Salvado Catholic College, we encourage all students during this season to make time for God through quiet prayer and reflection; choose something to abstain from, like eating sweets, or giving up time to help someone else; and donate to those in need.

Some Lent ideas for children
Shrove Tuesday
On Tuesday 13 February, the whole College celebrated Shrove Tuesday in preparation for Lent. Students and staff shared a pancake recess and were invited to bring in a gold coin donation to launch Project Compassion. Thank you to the wonderful Year 8 students who assisted with delivering and serving pancakes to the whole College. A special 'Thank You' to Mrs Tierney-Dusenberg, Mrs Burgoyne and Mrs Ripley who were up early on Tuesday morning cooking special pancakes for our students with dietary requirements.
Project Compassion
The 2024 Project Compassion Fundraiser was launched on Shrove Tuesday and will run throughout the season of Lent until the end of Term 1. This week a Project Compassion box will be sent home for families to collect cash donations for those less fortunate. This year, families are also able to donate online by clicking on this link: Salvado Catholic College - Caritas | Project Compassion Schools. Boxes with donations will be collected back at the College at the beginning of Term 2.
MJR Moment
The Spirit of Jesus is everywhere here at Salvado Catholic College. A wonderful MJR moment happened last week. Some Year 6 and Secondary students recognised that Mrs Stevens needed some extra help to get canteen lunch orders out in time last Friday. The students helped Mrs Stevens without hesitation. Thank you to our wonderful students for putting their faith into action and showing the Spirit of Jesus.
Deacon Errol's Ordination
Exciting news! Deacon Errol will receive the Sacrament of Holy Orders to become a priest in April (click here for more information about ordination). The whole Salvado community is welcome to both the Ordination Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral and the Mass of Thanksgiving at St Francis Xavier Parish. Let us all keep Deacon Errol in our prayers during this special time.
Pope Francis' Monthly Prayer Intention 🙏🏼
In February, we pray for: For the Terminally Ill
