Hello from Grade 1/2S and Skye.

Writing

We have been practising creative writing and writing from the heart this week for students to express themselves. There have been interesting stories about mermaids, robots, and dragons.

 For our reflection writing after investigation time we have been working on-

• Who I played with
• What did I play
• How did I feel

Spelling 

We began our spelling and students have taken it home everyday this week, students in grade 1/2 have been enthusiastic about this and shown their abilities all week! It was amazing to see how much focus there is!

Investigation and Maths

It has been a busy week for us in the room. Lots of investigations taking place, we are beginning to explore place value numbers in and around the room and in maths. We have introduced a timer to the cubby where students are in charge of time keeping and writing their names in progression from 1st to 4th. As as a class we choose 10 mins as a time for each person to use so that everyone can have the opportunity to use the cubby. 

We have been working on place value and numbers from 100 to 1000. 

Students were tasked this week with making a number and writing it into words. 

We have had lots of fun playing dice wars, it encourages the use of addition, knowing what the bigger number is and subtracting a block from your opponent. Students have made connections to chance as the game does involve dice and we cannot choose the number.
