Hello, from Carolyn.

Respect, responsibility and kindness

Hello everyone,

This week, Kim, Nicole, Jacinta and I had two days in Melbourne attending professional learning about using data effectively to plan for student learning needs. Now, that might sound like a dry topic, but we're excited about the project we will be working on over the year! Monitoring our students' progress is an important piece of 'teacher work', getting better at using that information effectively is the focus for our project. At our school, we are all about 'Being our Best' and having high expectations of ourselves and our students.

School Council elections.

On Tuesday 27th, nominations will open for three parent positions on School Council. Being on School Council means you are working as part of our team to discuss and plan for school improvement, to be a contact for other parents, to promote our school, to have thoughtful discussions about what is best for our students, to support Parents & Friends and school council sub-committees. If you would like to know more about being a school councillor, you can talk to any of our current councillors: Michelle Baker, Robyn Matthews, Brooke Bennet, Vipul Patel, Greg Stehle, Jaclyn McEwan and Jess White.

Nomination forms will be available at the office from Tuesday 27th.

Goal setting meetings.

Bookings are currently open for our Term 1 goal setting meetings. These meetings are opportunities for us to work together to support your child to achieve their best, and for all of us to have the same information and understanding of your child's progress and their next steps in learning. I strongly encourage you to make a time to meet with your child's teacher, and to bring your child along as it is all about them after all!

Girls in STEM program.

This year, Gypsy and Audrey are participating in the Girls in STEM program held at Bendigo's Discovery Centre. It is a fabulous program that encourages girls to learn more about science and technology, and they might be encouraged to, one day, pursue further study and a career in the field. A bonus for me is I usually get to transport our students to the sessions, and then I get to hang around and see what wonderful learning and experiments they do!
