150 Years of Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Celebration
As the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart celebrate 150 years as an Australian province, the staff of St Brigid's were delighted to be welcomed into Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College along with staff from our other OLSH sister schools to celebrate Mass. There are many exciting events organised for this special year as well as celebrating the 200 years since Jules Chevalier's birthday.
2024 Year of Prayer
Ahead of the jubilee year in 2025, Pope Francis has inaugurated a Year of Prayer for 2024.
As we pray for peace across the world, Pope Francis' message is through this experience of prayer we feel the power of God's love and hope.
Lent
On Tuesday 13th February, it is Pancake Tuesday. We would like to welcome everyone to school in the morning for a pancake starting at 8:30am and we hope to finish with community prayer at 9:00am
On Wednesday 14th February, not only is it St Valentines Day but it is also Ash Wednesday. This is a special day of prayer and fasting and as Catholics, we recieve an Ash cross on on forehead a sign of the sacrifice of Jesus.
Ash Wednesday begins our season of Lent, a time of repentance, prayer, fasting and almsgiving. As part of our Almsgiving, profits raised from iceblocks will be going to Caritas Australia this term.
Sacramental Programme
If you have a child who is 7 years or older and who has been baptised in the Catholic Church, you may wish for them to complete the next stage of their Catholic journey, the sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion.
on Friday 9 February, I sent home the relevant documentation for years 4-6, however, if your child is 7 years old or above and you think your child is ready for this Sacramental journey please come and see me and I can give you this documentation.
