Principals message
Congratulations to all those who attended and competing at the Swimming Carnival. The atmosphere at the pool was great and the enthusiasm of all participants was appreciated. A special congratulations to all the members of Gillenbah House as the champion house. A special mention goes to
- Jaida-Lee Lyons and Blake Lawrence as the winners of the Champion of Champions race.
- The staff for their convincing win over Year 12 in the swim, run, slide relay race.
- Year 12 for raising over $2 700 for their charity (Can Assist) on the day.
- Mrs Langley, Mrs Donaldson and Coby Sanders for being good sports by participating in the ice bath challenge.
- Windradyne May for winning the inaugural “bombing” competition.
Good luck to all those participating in the Zone and Regional Swimming Carnivals.
I am encouraged by the positive uptake of the new school uniform. The uniform shop is open each Tuesday and Thursday morning from 8:30am to 10:00am. The arrival of new stock will be announced on the school facebook page.
I ask that parents and caregivers ensure that the clothes students are wearing comply with the uniform standards at Narrandera High School. Student assistance is available to any families experiencing financial difficulties to support the purchase of school uniforms. Families can access student assistance by speaking to a member of the Wellbeing Team (Year Advisors, Jacqui – SSO, Joy or Brayden – AEO’s, Mrs Lucas – Head Teacher Wellbeing) or by contacting the office.
The following items are not part of the Narrandera High School uniform:
# Active wear – including bike shorts and leggings.
# Shorts with large branding
# Sporting shorts which are not an appropriate length for school.
# Representative sports shorts including Riverina and local sporting teams.
# Hoodies of any colour. This includes when they are worn under school shirts and jumpers.
Regular attendance at school matters. The evidence is clear that consistent attendance is the essential first step for your child to have a positive experience at school.
Every day matters for your child’s learning. In recent years we’ve seen too many students miss a day of school here and there. Missing school for students means missing assignments, time with friends, an important lesson and missing opportunities to participate in extra-circular activities. With days missed, years are lost.
Students are required to attend school every day, whether it’s the first or last day of the term, Mondays, Fridays or days dedicated to sports carnivals, school excursions and incursions.
Help us make sure your child is achieving their best and stays ahead in their learning with regular school attendance. The more time your child attends school, the greater their opportunity to learn, make new friends and improve their wellbeing.
If your child is absent from school, please let us know why as soon as possible. Parents can reply to the absence text message or call the front office on 69591744. There will be times when your child is unable to be at school (like when they are unwell). Medical appointments should take place outside school hours where possible and family holidays should be taken in term breaks.
If your child is feeling anxious about coming to school and you need support, please reach out to the school. Our staff are here to work with you and your child to help them attend school each and every day. There are also helpful resources for parents and carers on the Every Day Matters website.
Thank you again for working with our teachers and support staff to make sure your child is at school, on time, every day. We all want to see our students learn, grow and belong in our equitable and outstanding education system.
