Co-curricular - Junior Sport: Stage 3

It is always a great feeling to leave trials behind and get into the nitty gritty of the Summer season. Unfortunately, the weather decided to interfere with what could have been a glorious day of play last Saturday. Many of the teams battled through miserable morning rain in an effort to get a result, while games for other teams just got washed out. Fingers crossed for Round 2 and kinder conditions for play.

The training schedule for Term 1 has been released and all teams now have their two training sessions timetabled. Please be aware that the timetable is still a draft and subject to change, however, I am hopeful of only minor changes moving forward.

There are a few teams that will be traveling off-site for training this term. Some Basketball teams will train at Marie Bashir Public School on Arthur Street in Strathfield. Boys will be walked over to the grounds by their coach at the end of the school day. Parents/carers are then able to collect their sons directly from Marie Bashir Public School. Any student not collected by 4:00 PM will then be escorted back to the College and can be collected from school.

Boys in Tennis will be training at Santa Sabina courts this term. Boys will catch the 579 bus to Strathfield station. They will be accompanied by Mrs Abou Malham (Coach) on the bus. From Strathfield Station the boys will then walk together with Mrs Abou Malham to Santa Sabina. Boys can be collected from Jersey Road at the conclusion of the session. Santa Sabina has asked that parents/carers do not enter the school grounds and go down to the courts.

Wednesday 21 February will see the Junior School involved in the first of the three major carnivals for the year. We will be holding our Cross Country Carnival on Breen Oval and the school grounds. Parents/carers are invited to come and support the boys on the day. Parents/carers can sit along the green seats of Breen Oval along Fraser Street. The boys will run 2km or 3km depending on their age and all boys are expected to participate. The Cross Country run also coincides with our major Lenten fundraising initiative. Boys will be asked to get sponsorships for the run and will be encouraged to keep raising money after the run has been completed. I look forward to seeing many parents/carers supporting the boys on the day.
