Faith in Action

Faith in Action in our School community
In Week 2 and 3, students have been actively living out the Gospel through meaningful outreach initiatives: the Year 8 Vinnies Van Sandwich Making Induction and the Year 10 Aged Care Outreach Program and Senior Vinnies Van Saturday Night Program.
Year 8: Vinnies Sandwich Making Induction
Year 8 students recently completed their induction into the Vinnies Sandwich Making program. Through this initiative, students prepare sandwiches that are distributed to members of our local community experiencing hardship.
This program introduces students to the practical dimension of service, helping them understand that small acts of kindness can have a significant impact. It is a powerful example of Catholic Social Teaching in action, particularly the principles of Human Dignity and Preferential Option for the Poor, reminding students that every person deserves respect, care, and compassion. Beyond preparing food, students are learning responsibility, empathy, and the importance of responding to need with generosity.
Year 10: Aged Care Outreach
Our Year 10 students have also begun their Aged Care Outreach involvement, visiting and connecting with residents in the local aged care community. Through conversation, shared activities, and simply offering their time and presence, students bring joy and companionship to those who may experience loneliness.
This outreach reflects the Catholic Social Teaching principles of Community and Participation and Respect for the Dignity of the Human Person. Students gain a deeper understanding of intergenerational connection, compassion, and the value of human relationships.
Faith Lived in Action
Both initiatives provide students with authentic opportunities to move beyond classroom learning and embody the Gospel values of kindness, service, and solidarity. Faith in Action is not just something we speak about — it is something we practise.
We are incredibly proud of our students for embracing these opportunities with maturity and generosity. Through these programs, they are growing not only as learners, but as compassionate and socially responsible members of our community.
Senior Students: Leading by Example
A special acknowledgement must also go to our senior girls: Amelia Wood, Olivia Anastasio and Eliza O’Brien who generously volunteered their time with the Vinnies Van on Saturday evening, 7 February. Giving up part of their weekend to serve members of our wider community is a powerful witness to servant leadership and Gospel values in action.
Their willingness to step forward demonstrates solidarity with those in need and models for our younger students what it means to live out faith beyond the classroom. This commitment reflects the Catholic Social Teaching principle of Solidarity, reminding us that we are called to walk alongside one another as one human family.
