Student Stories

The Day The Internet Died is a hilarious comedy that our Bentleigh East Campus students are performing with OLSH College that imagines the very worst - a week with no internet

Angus (Year 8) is loving his experience acting in his very first theatre production.

Performing Arts is my passion and The Day The Internet Died has been such a wonderful experience. I have learned so many skills like improvisation, adapting and it’s helping me to build skills in patience and silence while other performers are performing; which is a key skill when thinking of having a career within the industry.

I have always participated in musicals and this was my first play. I have enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would. I have been able to expand my knowledge in musical theatre by performing as the Mayor.”

Performances are October 22 to 24 and the Cast is enjoying rehearsals and developing their stage craft. Tickets available soon!

BrainSTEM Challenge

On 26 August, ten of our Year 8 and 9 students across BEAM, Science and Integral Ecology attended the BrainSTEM Challenge, in an excursion focused on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

This program gives our students a valuable learning experience and the opportunity to make a positive impact on our planet, inspiring and preparing future innovators and leaders to actively contribute to a more sustainable world. They get to work with students from other schools, learn/develop new skills like design thinking and build expertise in problem-solving, critical thinking and brainstorming.

Lukas, Year 8

“I really enjoyed the BrainSTEM competition at Camberwell Grammar. We were sorted into groups of 5 students from all different schools. There were guest speakers with experience in STEM and other areas. Each team had to pick a UN sustainability goal and go through steps to find a problem, the goal was to find a solution to that problem.

Our problem was sustainable cities and communities, and  we decided to solve that by reducing waste. We did this by doing cash for soft plastics, hard plastics, metal and cardboard.  We showed this by building a rubbish dump and a recycling centre with our Lego models to show our problem and solution. Once we finished with our models, we presented them to 2 judges and were asked follow-up questions. The winners were announced - first place was my team!

It was a really fun day that allowed us to express our ideas and collaborate with other like-minded students.”

It’s about empowering my generation to be more confident and secure online.
