Persuasive Writing in 1/2 Jackson 

This term, 1/2 Jackson have been developing their persuasive writing skills by exploring metafiction texts, which speak directly to the reader. Through these lessons, students have been learning how authors use argument statements, persuasive language, changes in font size and illustrations to influence emotions and impact the reader’s thinking.

To apply their learning, students created their own comic-style metafiction stories, aiming to convince their families to buy them their favourite animal. A highlight of our unit was reading Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus and then designing our own creative versions, which allowed students to showcase their persuasive techniques in a fun and imaginative way.
