Years 3-6 Enjoy a Magical Performance of The Paper Escaper
On Tuesday, students from Years 3 to 6 had the exciting opportunity to visit the Performing Arts Centre to watch The Paper Escaper. This captivating show follows Benny, a plucky puppet protagonist who dreams of a life beyond the pages of a simple pop-up book. In a world determined to keep Benny confined—facing challenges from a wily dancing fire to a disillusioned illustrator—Benny must find the courage and friendship needed to chase their dreams.
Written by Gita Bezard of The Last Great Hunt, this delightful and inspiring production features inventive puppetry, skilful physical performances, and a rich, intricate soundtrack that brought the story to life.
Benny refuses to follow the story laid out by ‘The Maker.’ As Benny’s parents grow anxious about the consequences of defiance, Benny courageously breaks free from the narrative. Alone in an unfamiliar world, Benny encounters a mysterious tentacle, and an unexpected friendship blossoms. However, with ‘The Maker’ determined to regain control and his fire burning fiercely, Benny and their new friend must work together to survive.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the show, especially the creative use of puppetry, which added a magical dimension to the storytelling. It was a memorable experience that sparked imagination and inspired many.
