This term, all children in years 3-6 have worked on writing persuasive texts and delivering oral presentations as class speeches.
Tomorrow, we look forward to listening to the speeches of our finalists from each year group who have progressed through to the 2025 Public Speaking Finals. There will be a year level winner from Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 as well as one junior and one senior public speaker for 2025. A representative from Inverell Breakfast Toastmasters will adjudicate the day for us.
A warm welcome is extended to families to come along to support the culmination of work from our primary students. Years 3 and 4 will be from 10 am and Years 5 and 6 will be from 12:10 pm.
Throughout the coming week, all classes from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be visiting the Life Education Van. The topics being covered in year levels are:
Kinder - Harold’s Friend Ship: Learn to build respectful relationships, recognise emotions, manage feelings, and practice protective behaviours.
Year 1 - Ready, Steady, Go: Explore how resilience, overcoming challenges, physical activity, and healthy behaviours contribute to overall wellbeing, while learning strategies to manage feelings and emotions.
Year 2 - Harold’s Online World: Learn to stay safe and respectful online and offline, recognise risks, and use technology responsibly
Year 3 - The Inside Story: Understand how healthy food, body systems, exercise, and safe medicine use contribute to overall health and energy.
Year 4 - Friends & Feelings: Develop emotional literacy, practice assertive communication and emotional regulation, and build positive friendships.
Year 5 and Year 6 - Decisions: Explore myths, facts, and social norms around drugs, their classifications, safety strategies, and the influences on decision-making.
This Thursday all children are encouraged to wear yellow or come to school in free choice clothes as they participate in a rotation of activities to build awareness and skills in resilience, getting along and well being. Children will enjoy a pizza lunch if they pre-ordered. K-2 students will have a social during the day and 3-6 students will have their social 3:30-5:00 pm.
3:30-5:00 pm. The cost is $2 or $3 for a family. A canteen will be available during the social. Please pick up your child from the hall at 5:00 pm.
