Grade 2/3/4

It is officially the last week of term! The 2/3/4's have enjoyed the past two weeks and here is what the class have been up to:

In Literacy, we have officially finished reading the novel 'Matilda' for their book study. The students then did a book review on 'Matilda' where the average score was 3 stars out of 5, it being a popular novel amongst the class! The 2/3/4's have also been writing persuasive writing pieces on laptops where they have written persuasives to the topic 'All schools should have a dog'. They have thoroughly enjoyed writing and creating their pieces!

In Numeracy, the 2/3/4's have finished their unit on decimals. With some even converting decimals to mixed and improper fractions! We have now started exploring mass and using formal measurements to weigh objects. Students have enjoyed comverting grams to kilograms and comparing which objects are heavier, using digital scales.

In Science, we have finished our unit on heat energy where students started learning about conduction, convection and radiation. The 2/3/4's thoroughly enjoyed making popcorn and exploring how the heat process works.

In Humanities, the 2/3/4's have been engaged in delving deeper into our community of Hamilton by using statistics to look at the demographic of our town. They have also been exploring changes and constants of communities and how these have either changed or stayed the same overtime.

It was so great to see most families at the Parent/Teacher Conferences and for the students to showcase the works they are most proud of!

I wish everyone a great two week break and am excited to see everyone for the start of Term 4!
