Year 6 News

Reading
Over the past fortnight, our Grade 6 students have been diving deeper into our novel study of Wonder by R.J. Palacio. We’ve explored the themes of kindness, empathy, and courage through the experiences of Auggie and his classmates. We were introduced to the concept of precepts - personal mottos or guiding principles that help us make good choices. Students have been discussing Mr. Browne’s monthly precepts and beginning to develop their own, reflecting on what values are most important to them both in and out of the classroom.

Writing
In Writing, Year 6 students have been exploring the 6+1 Writing Traits, focusing specifically on the trait of Ideas. Students learned that strong writing begins with clear, focused ideas that are developed with rich detail.
