STUDENT LEADERS 2026 

 

Craigieburn Primary School is proud of the large number of students who contribute to our school and its culture. We value our students’ perspectives, passion and interests, encouraging them to express their opinions and ensure they feel heard. Our teachers work with all students to motivate them to shape their learning experiences and empower them to be engaged, goal-oriented and reflective learners. 

 

Our Student Leaders are encouraged and supported to develop a sense of vision and purpose as they take on further responsibilities. Student Leaders develop interpersonal skills including citizenship, communication, collaboration and teamwork. 

 

We have the following Student Leadership positions for 2026 and below is a short description of these roles. Students in Grade 5 who are interested in applying for a Student Leadership role for 2025 are encouraged to read the role description before completing their application.

 

School Captains 

Number of captains: 4 - This is made up of 2 Captains and 2 Vice Captains 

 

Role description: 

As an important leadership position in the school, School Captains are expected to be ambassadors who embody the School Values. They must be approachable, reliable and trustworthy with high expectations of themselves and others. The School Captains are to take an active role in all aspects of the school community and work with others to achieve the best possible outcomes. School Captains support the school’s leaders (Principal, Assistant Principals, Leading Teachers and PLC Leaders) in delivering the school’s mission and vision. 

 

House Captains 

One Captain, One Vice Captain, from each House.

 

The role of a House Captain is to encourage all students to participate in House Team activities, such as CPS Sports Days and other school events. They assist to organise their team, sports equipment, run events and build positive team spirit, attitudes and efforts. House Captains demonstrate the school values on a daily basis. They are approachable, reliable, have strong leadership skills and are passionate and encouraging towards all school initiatives.

 

eSmart Leaders: Two Leaders

 

eSmart Leaders are expected to be role models and ambassadors who embody positive online practices aligned with our School Values. eSmart Leaders demonstrate characteristics of good learners, such as be persistence, determination, curiosity, asking questions, sharing their knowledge and being reflective learners. eSmart Leaders will demonstrate how to responsibly use and explore 21 century learning tools throughout all curriculum areas. eSmart Leaders will work collaboratively, communicate effectively with others, use critical thinking to extend their learning as well as using creativity. 

 

Environment Leaders: Two Leaders

 

Enviro Leaders work under the guidance of the Environment Team Coordinator and with the Environment members. They are excellent role models for all CPS students and demonstrate the School Values. They collaborate with teachers and students to promote and educate the school community in relation to positive sustainability practices.

 

Arts Leaders: Two Leaders

 

Arts Leaders work under the guidance of the Art Team Coordinator and with the Arts members. They are excellent role models for all CPS students and demonstrate the School Values. They collaborate with teachers and students to promote and educate the school community in relation to positive art practices.

 

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Leaders: Two Leaders

 

The SWPBS student team members work with the staff SWPBS team to develop, promote and model positive behaviour systems across the school. Their collaboration with staff members and other students will be a vital part of this role, as will the SWPBS Leaders dedication to our school values on a daily basis.

 

 

At Craigieburn Primary School our School Values are Responsibility, Resilience and Kindness. We expect our Student Leaders to be ambassadors for our school, promoting our school values and culture, while being responsible role models for all students.

Our Grade 5 teachers will be explaining how to apply for these positions and the election process in the coming weeks. We encourage all Year 5 students to apply for these positions, students may collect an application prompt sheet from their classroom Teacher.
