Dear CPS Community,

We have had another couple of busy weeks at CPS as we nearly hit the halfway mark for the term.

Last Friday we (CPS) celebrated World Teachers’ Day. We wanted to again take this opportunity to say thank you for the incredible contributions teachers make to                                                                        our community.

To all our dedicated teachers at Craigieburn Primary School, thank you for everything that you do, day in and day out. Thank you for always bringing your best to work and continuing to put our students first.

Prep Transition

It was a pleasure to welcome our 2026 Prep students to their transition days over the past two weeks and continuing these sessions over the coming weeks ahead. These sessions give our future Preps a chance to familiarise themselves with their new learning environment, meet some of our staff, and connect with future peers. We look forward to supporting them as they begin their journey at our school.

2026 Grade Placements (as shared in previous newsletters)

In readiness for the year ahead  any families intending on leaving the school, we ask that you contact the office craigieburn.ps@education.vic.gov.au  03 9308 1228 as soon as possible, as we are currently creating our grades for 2026. We understand there are many reasons why families move on and always appreciate your communication in this. Thank you to those families who have already let us know of their intentions for 2026.

Our teaching teams, Specialist staff, ES staff and Leadership have been working on class placements and will review these classes considering the needs of all students from a social, academic, wellbeing and behavioural perspective.

A range of factors are considered based on some simple principles:

  • Classes need to have a gender balance
  • Classes need an academically and wellbeing compatible balance
  • Classes need a ‘social behaviour’ balance
  • Children need to be placed with familiar faces while at the same time acknowledging that some children work better with certain students than others irrespective of friendships.

Staff also look for compatible learning partners, considering current friendship groups, and encourage the development of new friendships.

Lost Property

We have lots of jumpers/jackets and drink bottles, please take a minute to have a look through these before the end of the 2025 school year. All unnamed items will be donated to a worthy cause. Items are kept in our Administration – please see the office admin team.

Upcoming Pupil Free Day & Public Holiday

Just a reminder that next Monday 4th November is a Pupil Free Day followed by the Melbourne Cup Holiday on Tuesday 5th November.

We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend!
