Home Group Placement
Over the next month, our teaching staff will meet to put together classes for 2025. During this process we consider academic, behavioural, and social and emotional factors to create balanced class lists. Tomorrow, a Compass post will be sent home outlining the home group placement for 2025. Attached to the post will be an Optional Special Consideration Form for parents who may wish to submit a confidential request. These requests are limited to specific criterion and we try hard to accommodate reasonable requests. If you have any questions about the process, please contact your child’s teacher or myself.
Upcoming House Sports Day
Please lock into your diaries Wednesday 13th November, which is our whole school House Sports Athletics Carnival. Mr. Scanu, Mr. Falcone and I have scheduled a full day of events for all our students from Prep to Year 6. These include running events, field events such as high jump and long jump, novelty races and team events such as table tennis and volleyball. Students can of course come to school wearing their new house colours (if you are unsure of your child’s house colour, this can be found on Compass listed next to your child's home room group). Parents are very welcome to attend throughout the day to support their children. Mr. Scanu is also desperate for parent volunteers to assist in running events or helping at the sausage sizzle. An actual schedule of events for the day will follow soon.
Moving House?
Our leadership team are currently analysing projected student numbers for 2025 and making decisions around the amount of classes we will offer in each year level. So far, we have had eight new students enrol to start in 2025 and six students whose families have told us they will be moving house and therefore attending a new school next year. If your family has plans to be living in a new home next year, please inform the office that you will be withdrawing your child’s enrolment, so that we can factor this into our decision making.
Lost Property
A big thankyou to all of our parents who endeavour to send their students to school wearing the proper uniform. Please keep in mind that if you do need any other items, they are available from the school office. One concern is the number of items of clothing that end up in our lost property basket. A successful strategy used by many families is to write the student’s name on the tag so that when property does make its way up to the admin area, our staff can check items and redirect them back to your child’s classroom.
Battle of the Bands
Tonight Mr. Stubberfield and Ms. Taylor are accompanying our choir and school band to Lalor North Secondary College for the Big Night Out Music Festival. Our students are expected at the event by 6:00pm, as finding parking can be challenging. We wish our students all the best with their performance.
Year 4 Camp
Over the past two days I have been enjoying the sunshine and the company of 92 students and 10 adults at our Year 4 camp at Phillip Island. The students had a great time undertaking several activities, such as canoeing, raft making and the flying fox. It has been great to see students challenging themselves and supporting each other to overcome their fears in relation to heights or water. The food and accommodation have been great! A special thankyou goes to those parents who have volunteered to attend the camp and provide support for our children.
Prep Activity Night
We look forward to seeing many of you tonight at the Prep Teddy Bear Picnic, which will begin at 4:00pm. Don’t forget to bring your own teddy bear.
