From the Classroom
Foundation
It's hard to believe it’s week 9 and next week we are finishing Term 3 with only one Term to go! Foundation are in the classroom learning lots and growing rapidly. We are so proud of their achievements this term. This week we have covered our last letter of the week Kk. Students enjoyed writing about Koalas. They brainstormed a bank of words to assist with our spelling. This was a fun writing session and the students were fascinated about this animal. We hope they shared some interesting facts that they have learnt with you.
On Wednesday, we set off to Ashe Fest. This was a well-planned day and students enjoyed their time away from school learning about the indigenous culture. Especially the artifacts, they were amazed by the possum fur ball that was used as a football called ‘Marn-Grook’. It was a big day of cultural dance, learning about artifacts, traditional games played by the indigenous and a touch of science. It was a great day had by all.
Tomorrow is another BIG DAY with Toolamba Athletics. Children know their house colour and name. Maybe tonight they can practise their house chant with you. It will be important to ensure they have plenty of food and water to last the day as sometimes children eat more when doing physical activity.
After the holidays, first week back we go straight into our swimming program every day for the first week. They will be in the pool 12.45-1.30pm and you are welcome to come and view your child having their swimming lesson at Aquamoves.
After swimming, we will begin our theme of learning about Australian native animal habitats. Aussie Happy Habitats Oi, Oi, Oi. We are super excited to combine our theme with a trip to Kyabram Fauna Park. Stay tuned for further information to come.
Have a great week and if we don’t see you enjoy a safe and happy break.

Art News
The foundation students have been exploring form, texture and scale by creating a stacked sculpture inspired by Jeff Koons. We particularly focussed our attention of Koon’s notable work “Play-doh” as well as other works in his recognisable style. Students created their own unique stacked sculpture by experimenting with basic clay tools to create textured parts which came together to create their sculpture. You can clearly see how proud our students are of their artworks in these pictures. Well done everyone!
The Grade 1/2 students explored colour, form and balance when creating a 3D wind-up mechanism creature. Students began by planning out their design, then using water-based textas to colour the magiclay into the different colours they needed for their creature. They then used the magiclay to form the body and add extra details. Students were able to use their imagination and play into their interests to make anything that they wanted. It was great to see a range of different characters, animals and monsters. Well done Grade 1/2!
