Our Trip to the Zoo
In week 9, year one and two students from the 3 block went on an adventure to the Adelaide Zoo. Thank you to Jacob for doing such a great job of writing about his experience:
"When I got to school, we were all going to the Zoo. I got in to class and I had to give my lunch to Ms Tarn and put my recess on my table. We put on our wristbands, our hats and got on the bus. After we got into the Zoo we ate our snack first, then my group set off.
First, we had to find out a fun fact about the Tasmanian Devil. Luckily, we weren’t far away. We all wrote how Tasmanian Devils can bite through bones and have the strongest bite of any other animal it’s size.
Next was the meerkats and Alaskah wrote this fact in our Zoo booklet about how they are good climbers, balancers and can stand up on two legs.
When we went over to the old elephant house, we saw bones of a monkey that lived in the Zoo in the 1950’s. His name was George. George loved footy because he had a footy in his hands in his photo. After this, we went to see the tigers being fed at 11:00. One of the tigers got very close up and scared Koby! It was like they were doing an easter egg hunt but instead of chocolate eggs, it was little chunks of meat.
Then we followed the map into the nocturnal house. At the start, it was soooo dark that no-one could see where they were going. Soon there was some light and the question on the booklet was - name three animals you saw in the nocturnal house. We said, the owl, bilby and hopping mouse. Next, we went to the lions. They were asleep though. Then we saw the quokka. It was sooo cute and was making a little nest. The quokka was so small and cute we could not understand why it had a big erected fence around its cage.
After we had finished all of our questions in our booklet, we played on the playground for a few minutes, then got on the bus and went back to school.
It was the best school day ever! The end."
