Festival of Music
On Thursday, September 12th 2024, 44 students in years 5 and 6 attended the Public Primary School’s Festival of Music at Adelaide Festival Theatre. We all performed on stage together, singing repertoire including the songs ‘Proud’, ‘Impossible is Possible’ and ‘I must clean my room!’ The commissioned works this year were called ‘State of the Arts’ and were written by Adam Page and Robyn Habel.
These are some of the comments from our participating students after the show:
I was so proud. I felt like I was in a dream but I was really standing on a stage at a very young age! ~ Indie
The vibrations through the stage as the choirs’ voices projected and there was a magical feeling in the whole show because of the energy with the music, dancing and singing. ~ Adelaide
It was enchanting… a grand setting with performances that captivated my senses. The mix of art and atmosphere made it a memorable experience. ~ Aanshi
It was super fun and definitely worth the practice and the wait! It had lots of cool experiences and many amazing opportunities! ~ Bianca

I felt joy rush through me when I saw the curtain rise up; I was on the Adelaide stage where it is almost impossible for others to get on. We were superstars and there was an audience waiting for us to sing. ~ Liana
I had so much fun at choir; everyone was enjoying it. Everyone was kind and singing loud and clear, also we were all so sensible! I had the best time ~ Mia P
I felt very connected to everyone in the crowd and the choir because everyone joined in. I love the songs, the harmony of everyone singing and the set out of the stage and all the props. I also loved all the colours of everything including costumes and props ~ Morgan
The experience was amazing, it was one of the best experiences I have been in! It was fascinating when I heard the sounds from the choir. ~ Ramona
We would all like to thank Lisa Woods for supporting us to do this throughout the year and teaching us the songs. We also thank the Festival of Music for the work they do to run this festival every year, our teachers for supporting us to attend rehearsals, and our families for coming to watch us!
I am so proud of the GPS choir for their ability to self and co-regulate throughout the day, as it meant they were able to give 100% on stage - and they all did a tremendous job. The concert was colourful, tuneful and enjoyed by all!
The perfect weather also allowed us to spend some time playing and meeting new friends outdoors during our dinner break, and it created some beautiful moments as the sun set over Elder Park.
I am already looking forward to what lies ahead for choir at GPS, and thank everyone for their contributions to this festival season.
Well done!
