Leadership Report

As we near the end of the term, excitement is building with Sports Day preparations. PE and class teachers have been preparing students for the various team and individual events, student leaders have been leading practice sessions for the warmup dance and getting their teams ready to loudly sing their new sports day chant. The day is always a highlight on the school calendar, and we know many parents will be planning to join in with the excitement.

Festival of Music

On Tuesday, another important event occurred, the Adelaide Festival of Music. 17 of our year 5 and 6 students took part in the primary school choir and performed at the Festival Theatre. The choir performances were interspersed with some quality performances by guest artists from primary and secondary school throughout the state.

This group committed to practice sessions weekly after lunch every Friday and was involved in a big rehearsal to choreograph all the moves with many other school students. The final event was a great display of the commitment and organisation of a range of people, including our school choir teacher, Deb Knott, the students themselves and the parents for supporting this event.

Anna, one of our year 6 students, chose to be involved in this opportunity as she had previous experience with the school choir. She really enjoyed the experience and loved the type of songs with positive messages and sense of fun. She felt happy with our school’s performance and proud of it.

Preparations for a display at our last assembly for the term will give the rest of the school a bit of a taste of the choir’s performance.
