Year One Team News

Hello Year One families,

A big congratulations to the students for their fantastic Willy Kid behaviour during our swimming program. They were all sensible, independent and well-mannered and it was a pleasure to take them to the pool. It certainly took a lot of energy for our kids to swim every day and we are sure all our Year 1 students slept well every night! With the disco still to come tonight and Footy Day tomorrow, they have definitely earned a relaxing school holiday. 

We wish you all the best, we hope you get some rest in and we look forward to an exciting Term 4. 

Toys in Motion Incursion:

Next term, our Inquiry Unit will focus on the science of toys; the way they move, how they are made and the forces involved. This is a highly engaging unit of work and we are looking forward to using our creative minds and problem solving skills.

We will begin this unit in the second week of Term 4 with an incursion called Toys in Motion. This will spark curiosity and ensure that the students have lots of great ideas for the remainder of the inquiry. Please ensure you have checked Compass, given permission and paid for this event. 

Year One Dinner: 

The much anticipated Year One Dinner is scheduled for Thursday November 7th, 2023, beginning at 4:30pm and concluding at 6:30pm. 

The experience of having a meal and independently getting ready for bed in the school environment is the second stage of our sequenced camp program that develops throughout their primary schooling years. This will provide students with educational, physical and social experiences to complement the learning provided in the school environment and is designed to allow students to experience a range of activities that they may not have participated in previously.

Students will be dismissed as normal at 3:30pm and then return to school at 4.30pm. They will play games, have dinner, change into their pyjamas and brush their teeth. Parents will pick up their child at 6.30pm outside the Red Brick Hall (playground side). Please look out for further communication next term.
