Williamstown Primary School Traditions - The Disco

Traditions are a big part of a school community like ours and we hold on tightly to the traditions that matter and the ones that engage, motivate and enrich the lives of our Willy Kids. The Williamstown Primary School Disco is one of the most anticipated events on the school calendar. Once a student has experienced their first Willy PS disco, there’s no stopping them! The PE Hall will be transformed into a themed discotheque by the work of our student disco committee, and our very own ‘DJ Kitchen’ will pump out tunes based on a playlist curated by our Willy Kids. The theme of course, is a secret and will be revealed as the students step through into the hall.

Catering for everyone’s diverse needs is an important part of ensuring that traditions are also inclusive. We have noticed over the years that while the disco is an exciting experience, the lights, music and movement are not tolerated by everyone. So that these students don’t miss out on the important social experience of the disco, we offer a quiet space to retreat to when necessary to unwind, calm down and prepare to jump back onto the dancefloor. The library will be staffed and also stocked with sensory items and quiet activities to enjoy.

We look forward to seeing our Willy Kids and their dance moves tonight, and can’t wait to see the smiles, laughter and energy that our students and teachers bring to events like this one.

Kind regards,
