Citizens of the Term 2024
Foundation Citizen of the Term 3 2024
Congratulations Dana!
Dana has started her first year of schooling with a determination and zest for learning which has been a joy to witness. Dana bounces into school each morning with a smile on her face and an eagerness to see what’s on for the day. She quickly organises herself and makes sure her classmates (and teacher) are organised for the day too!
Dana makes others feel included and valued, showing a remarkable sense of belonging and kindness to her classmates. Whether it is in the classroom or outside during playtime, Dana makes sure no one is ever left out. She always listens attentively to others and offers encouraging words to her classmates, showing that she values and cares about others’ thoughts and opinions. Dana displays respect through her words and actions towards her classmates and teachers.
One of Dana’s greatest strengths is her love for learning. She is like a sponge who absorbs everything around her. Seeing Dana at the beginning of the year learning to read her Hot Words to seeing her today, confidently reading all sorts of books and sharing her love of reading with those around her, has been such a delight. Dana is a super mathematician who loves learning new strategies and is a great problem solver. Dana consistently aims high in her learning and encourages those around her to do the same. She persists through challenges with resilience, showing determination and a positive attitude towards overcoming obstacles.
Dana’s sense of community is another special quality. Dana willingly tries anything and everything at school. From attending lunch time clubs, participating in TEAMs sessions to immersing herself into the school concert. She approaches new opportunities with a positive attitude and a sense of fun.
Dana, your dedication to our school values and learning behaviours are outstanding. We are thrilled to recognise your achievements and celebrate your contributions to our school community. We are excited to see your learning journey continue at BNPS – we are lucky to have you!

1/2 Citizen of the Term 3 2024
Congratulations, Maisie!
I am so pleased to announce that the 1/2 citizen of the term is Maisie.
I had the pleasure of speaking to many other teachers in the school and we all agreed that Maisie was a standout for this award in so many ways.
She is an absolute natural when it comes to displaying our important school value of care. If she notices someone hurt or upset, Maisie will be straight over, quietly place herself by that person’s side and will give them a little back rub or offer a soft toy for comfort. Maisie is very patient and has such a big heart. Her empathetic nature is to be commended, especially at this early age.
Maisie is a very respectful student. There isn’t a day that goes by where Maisie doesn’t use her manners. Every day I hear the words ‘Good Morning’, ‘Please’, ‘Thank you’ and ‘Bye, Mrs Warland’. Maisie has a quiet and humble way about her but is confident in standing up for what she believes to be right and sharing her thoughts and opinions. Her classmates have so much time and respect for Maisie because she has all the time and respect for them.
It is obvious Maisie is also a very community-minded person. Her caring nature towards everyone and thinking of others before herself is outstanding. She recognises when someone might be struggling, will check in to make sure they are ok and often help them out. She encourages her table to do the right thing and win table points by helping people pack up and get organised. She is a team-player. Maisie is a great helper to me and other teachers and takes on any role asked of her even if it means missing out on some of her play time or free time.
Excellence is also something Maisie strives for, particularly in her schoolwork. She gets organised quickly, her head is always down, and she uses her time effectively. She takes a lot of pride in her work and happily takes on feedback offered from teachers. Even when she finds things tricky and some things don’t go her way, she will never give up, showing how resilient she is. Maisie will often share stories with the class and her lit-up little face has everyone captivated.
Maisie, you are an exemplary student, with so much to offer our school community. You are an absolute pleasure to teach, and we are all very lucky to have you in our school.
Well Done!
Mrs Warland
3/4 Citizen of the Term 3 2024
Congratulations Johanna!
I am so pleased to announce that the recipient of the 3/4 Citizen of the Term for Term 3 is Johanna.
Johanna has a great understanding of what it means to be part of a community. She has been part of the school choir this year and enjoyed the experience of working as a team to entertain us at the school concert. Johanna has also been a part of the ‘Green Team’ where she has helped to weed the garden beds and keep the schoolgrounds rubbish-free.
A kind and thoughtful student, Johanna’s empathetic nature is a valued addition to the classroom. She always checks on her classmates or other students if they are hurt or sad and looks for ways to help them. Johanna’s inclusive manner sees her involve others in her games to ensure that no-one is left feeling lonely in the playground. Johanna looks after her belongings and shows great care and respect when using shared equipment.
Johanna approaches all tasks with enthusiasm and to the best of her ability. She has worked hard to increase her confidence when sharing her ideas with her peers, and has been an active participant of additional reading and maths sessions, recognising them as an opportunity to further her learning.
We are all very proud of you Johanna. Keep up the fabulous work.

5/6 Citizen of the Term 3 2024
Congratulations, Danny!
It is with great pleasure that I present the Year 5/6 Citizen of the Term award to Danny.
Since joining our school in 2023, Danny, you have stood out to both students and staff for the positive and respectful way you conduct yourself. Overall, you are a well-mannered, polite, and courteous young gentleman, who takes a genuine interest in others – asking questions and engaging with them, not just talking at them.
During Term 1, as part of our unit on our ‘amazing brain’, as a 5/6 unit we explored how we learn. I have been particularly impressed by the way you have embraced this knowledge and applied it in your daily life. You are a mature and reflective young man who not only values feedback but also takes action to improve. You know that learning is life long, and always approach tasks with the attitude of “there is more to learn”.
Danny, you bring a wealth of knowledge to our classroom. Your honesty and curiosity, especially when faced with something new, are truly admirable. Not knowing something does not stop you from learning – you are brave, and openly acknowledge you don’t know and endeavour to find out more by staying curious.
Everyone here today can attest that working with others can be challenging at times, especially when their views or opinions differ from our own. I am in a privileged position where I have been able to watch you develop patience and empathy when interacting with your peers. You have been working hard at expressing your own ideas and opinions in a respectful manner, while also allowing others to express theirs.
Danny, you can be very caring; looking out for others and checking in with peers to ensure they are OK or if you can help them. You consistently strive to uphold our school values and learning behaviours both within the classroom and beyond.
Danny, these examples and others, in combination with your growth mindset is why you have been chosen for this prestigious award. Congratulations.
