Performing Arts Co-Curricular Showcase

A celebration of performing arts!

Term 3 has ended on a wonderful high with our final Showcase for the year being held to celebrate our graduating Year 12 students. Performances were given by the Marian College Choir, Play Ukelele, Concert Band, Senior Concert Band, and students of Creative Music in Schools (singers, drummers, and pianists). There was also a presentation from cast of the musical Matilda Jr! As always the girls supported each other, and celebrated their achievements over the year so far.

Thanks to our Performing Arts Co-Captains Vivien Tran and Angel Brown, our student leaders, the Marian College Choir teaching team of Rachel Andrews, and Michael Cooper, and our AV Technicians Adele Profeta and Csilla Schild. Finally, and there are so many people to thank, the wonderful team of staff who support us throughout the year and on performance nights.

Finally our heartfelt congratulations go to our graduating Year 12 students. Victoria Messina has been a member of the Marian College Choir since Year 7. She took on Choir leadership from Year 10 and has been conducting since 2023. She is also currently a member of the College's Student Representative Council. Stephanie Nguyen has been a member of the Concert Bands since Year 7. She took on Concert Band Leader in 2023 and continues in this role in 2024. Leanne Paul has been a member of the Concert Bands since Year 7.

She was Concert Band Leader in Year 9, and a Performing Arts Co-Captain alongside Vivien Tran in Year 11.  She is also currently a College Lamp Bearer. Vivien Tran has also been a member of the Concert Bands since she was in Year 7. She was a leader in Year 10, and a Performing Arts Co-Captain alongside Leanne Paul in Year 11. This year she has shared Performing Arts leadership with Angel Brown. She is also currently a member of the College's Student Representative Council. These girls have left their mark on Performing Arts, and we thank them. We know that they have bright futures ahead of them. It's going to feel very different without them next year! Luckily we will continue to see them around during their exam period, and the Choir are looking forward to singing at their Graduation Mass early next term.

In the next issue I'll be talking about what is in store for our ensembles and music lesson students for Term 4. We'll be getting festive, so watch this space!
