Principal's Desk

Dear Parents,

This Thursday afternoon we look forward to our annual Twilight Sports event. This particular sporting event focuses on participation more than competition, as students from Years prep - 6 engage in various games, events and activities in an atmosphere of fun and excitement. Their participation in itself accumulates points for their House to determine the winner for 2023. This is always a much anticipated event as the students represent their House as follows:

Red - Dominic

Green - MacKillop

Yellow - Bunurong

Blue - Mackay

This event is just as importantly about building school community. It is one of the few events on the calendar that invites the whole school community to come together for an afternoon of fun, interaction and conversation. Families are welcome to bring along a picnic (no alcohol please) and / or purchase something from our PA run BBQ. Thank you to the parents who have generously offered their time to assist with the BBQ. As they say, many hands make light work, so please feel free to step in and assist on the night. It is another great way to meet other parents.

We have been tracking the weather forecast and at this point looks like a cool but clear afternoon and evening. Fingers crossed ! Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Picnic / BBQ from 4.30pm.

Sports events - 5.30pm - 7.00pm

What to wear -  Students are to wear house colours on the night, ready to be active. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen and wear a hat.

Please bring -  A small backpack with a snack. Water bottle labelled with their name. Asthma puffer should they need one.

Thank you to the Parents’ Association for coordinating the BBQ on the night.

Prep 2024 Transition

Tomorrow we will welcome our Prep children for 2024 for the beginning of their Transition Program. This will be the first of three transition sessions as an opportunity for the children to familiarise themselves with the school environment and to meet the Prep teaching team.

I am pleased to announce the following Prep Team for 2024:

  • Prep Blue: Mrs Louise Cascianelli (Mon/Tues) & Mrs Andrea Dowling (Wed-Fri)
  • Prep Yellow: Mrs Chelsi Taylor
  • Learning Support Officer: Mrs Helen Richardson

More than half of our Prep enrolment are new families to Holy Trinity, so the program also allows our new parents to ask lots of questions prior to our Parent Information Night in late November.

Classroom teacher allocations for Year 1-6 to be announced in December.

World Teachers Day - Friday 27th October

While the official date is the 5th October, Australia celebrates World Teachers Day at a later date due to the school holiday break. I would like to offer my thanks and gratitude to all staff, teachers and non-teachers, for the tireless work and commitment to all the students in our care. Being a teacher can be extremely challenging at times but also incredibly rewarding. It takes a certain person to become a teacher so I am blessed to be able to lead such a wonderful and committed staff.

I would encourage our parent community to reach out to the classroom teacher of your child and express your appreciation for all that they do. Our staff are extremely grateful for the support and recognition of our parent community. As they say `it takes a village to raise a child’, so we are grateful for your trust and support as we educate and care for your most cherished possession - your child!

Class placement 2024

A final reminder that if you have any relevant information regarding the placement of your child, please email me directly on principal@htws.catholic.edu.au to request a Consideration for Placement of Student Form 2024.  This information will be taken into account when teachers are placing children in classes.  The form needs to be submitted directly to me, not to the classroom teachers, by Tuesday 31st October, 2023. Any previous discussions with your child’s teacher/s, must be redirected to me via this form. Any considerations from previous years also need to be resubmitted using this formas considerations from previous years may no longer be relevant. No forms will be considered after this time.

Please also note that the teachers are aware of the children’s friendships so requests for placing children with specific friends will not be considered. Social factors such as children not relating well together may be considered, but this reason must be submitted on the official form.

If you are not planning to return to Holy Trinity in 2024, please let the School Office know as soon as possible. We need to finalise our student numbers before establishing our class structure and allocating classroom teachers.

School Blog

Our students are responsible for a lot of the School Blog content, so please take some time to appreciate their posts. It is also a great way to find out about school events such as Camp, Production, Sports Events, the Arts …. And much more!
