Positive Climate for Learning

SPECIALIST AWARDS

As always, our Specialist team has been working hard to identify which Home Group’s are doing the best job at showing our School Values of Care, Collaboration and Commitment!

Take a look at our winners this week….

WAKAKIRRI

At our final assembly last term, we shared our AMAZING Wakakirri performance!

For those that wish to see it, take a look at the video below!

Students across the school have been working hard in the Art room this term. In addition to their usual AMAZING artwork, they have been quietly creating a Christmas masterpiece for display in Geelong.

The Christmas tree is part of the Geelong School Christmas Tree program where a select group of school have the privilege of creating their own tree for display in Geelong over the festive season.

Our theme is of course GLOW!

We expect the trees to go on display in early November and will communicate the exact location once we are advised.

So, watch this space!

Well done everyone one another sensational piece of artwork!

How can you support your child with P.E at home?

There are many ways you can support your child/ren at home and the best part of it, it’s fun for everyone!

  • Play boardgames as a family (this will support your child’s understanding of winning and losing)
  • Shoot hoops at your local basketball or netball court
  • Go for a family bike ride and talk about road rules
  • Sign your child up for a local sporting club. Sports that are yet to begin in Term 4 - Cricket Blasters, Nippers (Surf Life Saving) and Rep Basketball all begin soon! There are also lots of popular sports that continue into Term 4 like karate, gymnastics, cheerleading and swimming lessons
  • Take your family for a run or a walk around the local nature reserves
  • Go and watch a local team play and talk about how the games rules
  • Kick the footy, throw and catch balls, have a hit of the tennis racquet
  • Play beach cricket or beach volleyball
  • When you visit the beach, talk about the lifeguards and their role in helping us stay safe
  • Create an in house obstacle course for them to move around
  • Try using a skipping rope on the trampoline
  • Go for a bush walk

Sporting Legends and Local Sporting Clubs Wall

Throughout the year, if you have a child who is kicking goals (literally and figuratively) for their local sporting club, please let one of the PE teachers know so we can celebrate their success in P.E and at assembly. We also display photos of students in their sporting club uniform on our Local Sporting Clubs wall in the gym foyer. Please send a photo via email to your child/s P.E teacher so we can add it to the wall. This display has created a great sense of club pride around the school. It is also a great way for other students to see who at ACS is part of a local sport they may like to join. Check it out next time you walk through the gym hallway!
