Visual Arts

Well done to Grade 6, class of 2023 - the Legacy Project has been installed. This year the students completed designs based on anonymous French street artist 'Invader'.

They examined his installations from around the world and came up with their own design. These pieces were then created from mosaic tiles, which were painstakingly glued onto sheets of ply. White or black grout was then added to the mosaics to finish them off.

Photocopied versions of their designs were taped to the wall outside the grade 1 / 2 eating area and there were quite a few moves required to get these pieces where the students wanted them.

Finally the real mosaics were added to the wall and I think you will agree, the pieces look amazing! The area will remain roped off for the remainder of this week to allow the adhesive to cure properly.

Well done Grade 6, I am so proud of you!

Grade 4 Camp

Our Grade 4 students had a very exciting trip to Camp Wilkin at Angelsea. It was a 2 night, 3 day camp filled with fun and adventure… and perfect sunny weather! The activities included BMX riding, rock climbing, frisbee mini golf, archery, flying fox, the leap of faith, a nocturnal night walk, a beach walk and team challenges. The food was plentiful and delicious. We also spent time playing beach volleyball, gaga ball, basketball, tennis, in a decked out games room, and on an awesome playground. Overall, it was an awesome experience and a real highlight this year. Thank you to the Grade 4 teachers, and parent volunteers for ensuring all students had a wonderful time!

Grade 3 Camp

The Year 3 cohort attended Camp Oasis in Mount Evelyn at the beginning of week 3. It was a terrific experience for all students, some of whom were spending their first night away from home! We enjoyed the time in our cabins with our friends and did a range of activities that required us to go out of our comfort zone! We held real-life native reptiles, went crate climbing, zoomed down the zipline, made candles with hot wax and tried our luck shooting archery. The meals were fantastic and we had a great movie night watching Rio with some popcorn. A huge thank you to all staff and parents who attended what was a successful and rewarding first camp experience for our Year 3 students.

Sport Update

On October 19, the Tom Kelly Athletics field was the stage for an impressive display of athleticism at the Regional Athletics Carnival. Fraser and Macey, both from Grade 6, competed in their high jump and 100m events and we are immensely proud of their efforts.

In particular, we would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Macey for her incredible performance in high jump that earned her 1st place, a well-deserved victory. We are thrilled to announce that she will be representing our school at the state event on November 1.

Congratulations to both participants for their dedication and hard work. Your accomplishments at the Regional Athletics Carnival have not gone unnoticed, and we look forward to cheering you on in future competitions!
