From the Principal

- Mr Michael Horne

Engaged, energetic and knowledgeable staff are at the heart of every successful school. I’m pleased that even in the current climate of teacher shortages, we are well-positioned for 2024 and continue to attract superb staff to add to our already strong team. In 2024, we will welcome the following new staff members:

  • Jo Bell as a classroom teacher in the Junior School. Jo comes to us from NSW, where she is presently teaching at Forbes Primary School. Jo has held leadership positions at Geelong Grammar School, including Timbertop Campus Director of Student Wellbeing (Girls). She has a long interest in positive education and student wellbeing, working with Professor Lea Waters and co-founding the Growing Minds consultancy.

  • Toby Hawthorne – an Old Collegian, Toby is well known to many at the College and also completed a pre-service placement here earlier this year. Toby will join the Junior School teaching staff in a maternity leave cover position.

  • James Bell has been appointed to the Senior School staff, and will be teaching Agricultural and Horticultural Studies. James developed and led the agriculture program at Geelong Grammar School’s Timbertop campus, where he was also the Campus Co-Head of Boarding and Wellbeing.

  • Emma Johnson has been appointed to the Senior School English team. Currently teaching at Good Shepherd, Emma knows the College well, having completed a placement here and worked with us previously as a Learning Support Assistant.

  • Kirby Krstonosic will join the Senior School Humanities team teaching Business Management and Commerce. Kirby is part of The University of Melbourne’s Master of Teaching (Secondary) Internship program and will be supported by the university and College as she completes her teaching qualification while working with us.

In addition, the following staff will be moving roles for 2024:

  • Anna Robertson, who has been appointed as our incoming Director of Learning and Teaching.
  • Graham Lewis who will return to Myrniong to join the Junior School teaching staff in a part-time maternity leave cover position.
  • We will also welcome back Peter Steer from a year’s long service leave.
