State Atheltics:

On Wednesday the 1st of November Jack Tidore Stone represented St Luke’s at the State Ahletics held at Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne.  Jack was competing in the 11-year-old boy's 80m Hurdles.  Jack put in an awesome effort and walked away with 14th. This is an outstanding result and a great experience for Jack.  Well done Jack

Regional Basketball:

On Friday the 27th October St Luke’s was represented at the Regional Basketball Championships by a group of grade 5/6 students.  We entered a team in both the girls’ and boys’ sections and both teams did an awesome job and held their own against much larger opponents.

The girls were coached by Miss Walker and had a great day winning 2 out of 5 games.  In the first game the girls were extremely nervous and after a slow start came back to lose by a single point against Bourchier st Primary School.   After the nerves had settled the girls went on to win the next two games quite considerably against St Mary’s Mooroopna and Avenel.

In the 4th game the St Luke’s girls went down to Yarrawonga P-12 in a hard-fought match. Then after a long wait of over an hour and a half the girls played their last match against a very strong Guthrie St. The girls pushed them all the way but unfortunately could not secure the win.

In the boys matches they also came up against some really strong competition but played really well together as a team and only lost one out of four games losing to the eventual championship winners.  In the first game the boys came out firing against St Brendan’s and came away with a 22 to 16 win.  This really helped fire up the boys into the next match against Bourchier St which we knew was going to be a challenging match.  The boys played hard and physical but were unable to match the much stronger and taller opponents of Bourchier St loosing 55 to 8.  The next match was against St Joe's Cobram and the boys let loose after their loss to Bourchier and came away with a 24 to 2 win.  In the last game the boys had a little fun and secured another victory against Katunga B winning 9 points to 2.  Well done to all of the students in the teams and a big thank you to Miss Walker for stepping in and coaching the girls last minute.
