Prayer

"Listen to what the Spirit is saying."

Acknowledgment of Country

We turn our hearts and minds to the people of the Yorta Yorta nation, who have occupied this country for thousands of years.

We pay respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging, and commit to walking alongside Aboriginal Australians in truth and justice.

All Saints Day & All Souls Day

This week there were two significant days in the Liturgical Calendar, All Saints Day and All Souls Day.

On Wednesday 1st November we celebrated the lives of the saints, those men and women whose goodness and love of God have inspired the world.

This day is known as All Saints Day. Saints have allowed God’s love to shine out through them, and may their lives inspire us to show this love and goodness to all.

This is a time where we express our thankfulness to God for the many faithful people who show us how to live as Jesus wants us to.

On All Saints Day there is a very ancient prayer that is prayed.  In this prayer a leader says the name of a saint and we respond with the words ‘Pray for us’.

This Prayer is called The Litany of Saints.

On Thursday 2nd November All Souls Day marks the beginning of a month where we remember all of the people we have loved who have died and give thanks for the special place they have in our hearts.

We also pray that they are with God and at peace.
