The Learning Zone

Year 2 Excursion

Last Monday we loaded the bus with Year 2 students and headed west for our Geography excursion to the Warrumbungles.

What a great day it was. It was loaded with adventure and learning, Wes and Eliza from the Warrumbungles Environmental Education Centre were the perfect hosts, showing and teaching us all the wonderful things about the Warrumbungles and our environment. There was bush walking, tallying of our observations as we walked through the park, climbing over fallen trees, walking through creeks and our final trek out through a canyon. We saw goats, kangaroos and an abundance of bird life. We learnt about the tools that are used to help us tell the weather like an Anemometer (which is an instrument used for measuring the speed of wind). Students showed us just how capable they are at taking on challenges that take them out of their comfort zones, using composting toilets and navigating uneven terrain. After returning, we all agreed we'll go back next year - maybe in Term 2 or 3 when the weather is a little milder!
