Religion and Parish News

Prayer:

October is the Month of the Holy Rosary, so this newsletter’s prayer will contain the various prayers used to recite a decade of the Rosary.

1.Sign of the Cross

2.The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father,

who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our trespass

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

Amen

3. Hail Mary (recite ten times)

Hail Mary, full of grace,

the Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou among women,

and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray for us sinners,

now and at the hour of our death.

Amen

4.Glory Be

Glory be to the Father,

and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit;

as it was in the beginning,

is now and ever shall be,

world without end.

Amen

5.The Fatima Prayer

O my Jesus,

forgive us our sins,

save us from the fires of hell

and lead all souls to Heaven,

especially those who most need thy mercy.

6.Sign of the Cross

Catholic Mission & Socktober for World Mission Month

As you may know from previous years, we recognise World Mission Month every October. This year, we are helping Catholic Mission raise money for residents of Timor Leste, who are still facing hardship following ongoing conflict following their independence from Indonesia in the early 2000s.

Throughout Weeks 3 and 4, students will be making their own sock-balls in RE lessons ready to be used in PE lessons after Week 5. Students will require some paper and/or plastic bags, old clothes like shirts/socks, rags, string (or something that can be used like string e.g. old stockings, bubble wrap, newspaper, etc. If you would like to watch a video explaining how to make a sock-ball so you can see the materials required and how they’re used, please feel free to watch this YouTube clip.

We will be having an increased focus on donating to our class Mission Boxes throughout this term since we won’t be hosting a sock-ball shootout as we have in previous years. Each Monday, the class with the greatest Mission Money total will be presented with the Mission Cup which can take pride of place in their classroom’s Prayer Space. We, and Catholic Mission, are extremely grateful for any donation you can afford to make.

2023 Marriage and Family Week

Marriage and Family Week was celebrated in our Diocese last week. Throughout this week, Monsignor Ted Wilkes, Diocesan Administrator in the absence of a Bishop, asked Armidale Diocesan schools to dedicate one lesson of RE to ‘Family’. The teachings remind us that God is with us always and families in the daily routine of everyday life, can become a new way of fulfilling the specific call of the family: to render love normal.
