2024 Private Music Tuition

As we plan for 2024, we consider all aspects of the curriculum and aim to provide as many extra-curricular opportunities for our students as possible, one area being Music. With this in mind, we would like to gauge you and your child(ren)’s interest in the possibility of private instrumental lessons, onsite, facilitated during the school day. This would be for children from Year Two - Year Six.

As you know, currently, children can participate in keyboard, violin and guitar lessons, onsite, after school. At present, we're investigating several different companies who provide varying service options around Kew and the surrounding suburbs and schools.

Possible instruments that your child(ren) might learn include:

Electric guitar

Acoustic guitar

Electric bass

Keyboard

Drums

Flute

Clarinet

Saxophone

Trumpet

Trombone

Percussion

Violin

At this stage, we are only seeking expressions of interest. Following this, and dependent on minimum numbers reached, we will engage a suitable company that can cater best for our school community. Please be aware, if we don't have sufficient numbers, this program may not take place.

** PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING **

  • As these lessons may occur during school hours, at times, your child(ren) may need to complete any work that is missed at lunchtime or at home.
  • The music provider will do their best to ensure that these weekly lessons are rotated throughout the school day, so your child(ren) won’t miss the same learning opportunities each week.
  • If your child(ren)’s lesson falls during recess or lunchtime, it will be their responsibility to attend their lesson. Similarly to our tennis lesson program, the school will not chase children up if they miss their lesson.
  • Parents will need to carefully consider if their child(ren) can manage private music tuition lessons, as well as their normal school learning and any other extracurricular commitments they may have.

An Operoo form was sent to current Year 1-5 families last week. Please complete this Expression of Interest form by Friday 10 November.

ACU Placements

This week we welcomed three Pre-service teachers from Australian Catholic University (ACU). Ashley (1EE), Hollie (5CB and Visual Art) and Tamima (6AP) will complete 15 days as part of their University courses. Teaching placements are major components of undergraduate and postgraduate initial teacher education (ITE) courses. Not only are they an essential part of becoming qualified, but provide the hands-on skills needed for a teacher's career in the classroom.

A huge thank you to Emma Edmonds, Libby Mulhall, Charlotte Biggs, Alyssa Privitelli and Nicole Burnes for leading and mentoring the Pre-service teachers over the next three weeks.

No School on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 November

A reminder to all families that there will be no school on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 November due to our school closure day (Report Writing Day) and Melbourne Cup Public Holiday. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school next Wednesday 8 November.
