Performing Arts Term 1

Hi everyone! Welcome to Performing Arts Term 1! The main focus for all classes this Term is preparing for the Harmony Week performance. Students will learn a dance to 'One World' as a whole school, Prep-3 students will learn to sing 'I'm Good' and Grade 4-6 students will learn to sing 'Superheroes'. 

Prep

This Term will be all about the Preps exploring, experimenting and discovering in the Performing Arts classroom. As part of being musicians and performers, Preps will learn about how to use different instruments appropriately, as well as how to look after them safely. Through lessons and play, students will learn concepts of sounds and silence, as well as with fast, slow, loud and soft sounds.

In addition to this, Preps will get introduced to early parts of music theory, including recognising crochets and quavers.

Of course there will be lots of time for singing and dancing along to different nursery rhymes and some of favourite songs. 

Grade 1/2

This Term will be for the Grade 1/2 students to continue exploring and experimenting with sound, as well as learning to combine those sounds to make music and songs.

We will continue on with instrument lessons, practicing skills on the djembes, keyboards and ukuleles.

Grade 3/4

This Term, Grade 3/4 students to continue exploring and experimenting with a variety of instruments and sounds, and work to make their own music and songs.

Students will extend their instrumental lessons, and work some more towards learning the instrument of their choice - choosing between keyboard, ukulele and guitar. 

Grade 5/6

This Term, Grade 5/6 students to continue exploring and experimenting with a variety of instruments and sounds, and work to make their own music and songs.
