This Week's Updates
Dear Parents,
It's hard to believe but tomorrow afternoon marks the half way point of this term!
A few weeks ago I asked families to be aware of the two minute zone on either side of the driveway and how this is for a quick drop off in the mornings and not for parking, leaving your vehicle and walking down the driveway. Thank you to most families who are using this well. This reminder is for those who do park, leave their vehicles and walk into the school. Please ensure you park appropriately in the surrounding streets, particularly near fire hydrants and corners. It is important that our families who are both pedestrians and drivers have safe conditions including a good line of sight to other traffic.
Here are a few updates for this week.
Office Administration News
We welcome Emir Bajcic to our office admin team. Emir will commence next Monday 4 March, working five days a week. I know our community will all make Emir feel welcome and keep the Irish jokes for later in the year!
I'd like to thank the various staff who have changed their role at times to work in the office, particularly Jo Magnik who has taken on the role of supporting our community in publishing our newsletter and update sheet. Chris has been working in the office for the past few weeks and, if she is available, will continue to support us throughout the year when the need arises.
Interschool District Swimming Carnival
District Swimming is on Wednesday at Aquanation, Lower Templestowe.
The forecast is set to be quite hot and because of this as a district, we have decided to try and start the event earlier (between 9.30-945) if buses will arrive early enough for us to do so. We will be making slight changes to the schedule with relays happening at the end of the program.
We recommend these students bring lots of water, sunscreen and thongs so these can be worn at the marshalling stations and before the race. There are shade sails that we will have the students under also. We hope to finish the event earlier before the weather hits it’s predicted peak at 1pm of 35.
I will meet with the students at lunch time tomorrow to discuss all relevant information.
Any questions please email me at catherine.wall@sjvermont.catholic.edu.au

National Ride2school Day
Get ready to pedal into a healthier lifestyle with your kids!
National Ride2School Day is just around the corner, and we're excited to join the movement on Friday 22nd March.
What is National Ride2School Day? It's a fantastic initiative encouraging students across the country to ditch the car and embrace active transportation by riding their bikes, scooters, or walking to school. This day isn't just about the journey to school; it's about fostering healthy habits, promoting physical activity, and reducing traffic congestion around our schools.
Why participate? Aside from the obvious health benefits, biking or walking to school helps children arrive more alert and ready to learn. It also teaches them valuable road safety skills and reduces our carbon footprint. How can you get involved? Encourage your child to dust off their helmet, pump up their tires, and join their classmates on National Ride2School Day!
If you live further afield, you might like to park nearby and walk/ride/scoot the last portion of the journey. We are lucky to have Dandenong Creek Trail as well as other bike and walking paths near St James - let's make use of them on Friday, 22nd March - National Ride2School Day!
Let's pedal towards a healthier future, one ride at a time!!!
Upcoming Dates
