Safer Internet Day

This year St Kilians’s will be acknowledging Safer internet day. This day aims to raise awareness of online issues and promote responsible and safe online behaviour, helping to create a more secure and trusted digital environment for everyone in our school.

As all grades, through from Prep to Grade 6 are learning about E safety, as a part of their health program in Term One, we believe it is important to strengthen this topic even further through conversations with students about their experiences online.

Students will take part in these conversations as part of their Health lessons during week 2.

More information about Safer Internet Day can be found at https://www.saferinternetday.org

Arrival, Departure and Child Safety

Welcome parents and guardians to the 2023 school year.

As parents and carers it’s our responsibility to reduce the risk and make sure the children are safe during drop off and pick up time. We know our students learn more about road safety from watching their older peers and adults model the safest behaviours.

Attached to the newsletter is our Drop off and Pick up procedures. Please read these carefully and ensure your child knows where they will be collected after school. Our school PBIS blitz will ensure that students are explicitly taught the behaviours and expectations in relation to drop off and pick up procedures.

Drop off and Pick up

Parents please ensure that your children do not arrive at school before 8:30am and that you pick them up between 3:30pm and 3:50pm. If this is difficult the YMCA provides a wonderful ‘Before and After School Care Program’ where the children are supervised, fed and provided with fun activities. Information can be obtained from the school website or a form can be picked up from the office.

Hours of the program are below:

Before school care program: 7am - 9am

After school care program: 3:30pm - 6pm

Reminder: Please remember to ensure your child's hair is tied up if it is shoulder length or longer.

CANTEEN

Canteen Volunteers:

Throughout the year parents have the opportunity to assist Clare on a Friday for canteen duty. If this is something you would like to be involved with please ensure that you have a valid Working with Children Check card.

You can apply for these through the local post office.
