Deputy Principal's Report

Resilience, Independence and Optimism

These are the three values that have been consistently exemplified since the beginning of the year. It is not often that you get to work in a profession and witness the growth and development of students as they evolve into better versions of themselves.

We initially observed these values at the swimming trials, where Year 3 students attempted new challenges, all students from Year 3 to 6 pushing their boundaries to improve their skills and endurance, aiming for personal bests.

Yet, this spirit isn't confined to sports alone. During the Year 6 camp, we have witnessed daily examples of students stepping out of their comfort zones, embracing new experiences, foods and friendships. Their courage to be themselves is truly inspiring - it makes us feel pretty lucky to be an educator.

We would like to commend our Year 6 Leaders for their exemplary representation of St. Finbar's during our time away. Their engagement, curiosity and maturity while exploring various locations in Canberra have been recognised by many of the staff here, a testament to their character and leadership potential.

Being away from home presents its challenges, not just for us teachers but also for the students. Yet, they've shown remarkable support for one another, demonstrating empathy and understanding without judgment, particularly during bedtime.

We are all very excited to see these leaders continue to flourish in their Leadership roles this year. Undoubtedly, their experiences here will fuel innovative ideas and initiatives.

What a privilege it is to be a part of the St Finbar’s community!
