Principal's Report

Creativity & Endeavour. Respect, Inclusion, Resilience

 Riversdale Network Conference

For the last two days of this week, Steve Roche and myself have been at the annual Riversdale Network Principal's Conference. The focus of the conference has been around Leading School Culture, covering a number of facets of such an important piece of work.

The bulk of the program was spent working with Bronwyn Ryrie-Jones, who is leading work across the network in 2026 around the concept of Responsive Teaching - essentially strengthening our teaching practices to ensure that all students are learning to their capacity, with teachers responding in the moment to ensure progress, learning confidence and learning clarity is occuring throuhout our lessons.

Other highlights of the program were Dr Paige Williams, who spoke about leading culture in schools; Paul Watkins, who used his remarkable achievements as a provocation to think not only about our school leadership, but our lives as a whole; and Gavin Wanganeen, who gave some wonderful insights into his journey to becoming a highly respected AFL player for both his talent and his human qualities.

Mums and Special People Coffee morning.

As published elsewhere, we would like to warmly invite you to join us for our Mothers/Special Person Morning on Friday, May 8th.

Families are invited to arrive from 8:15am in the hall, where we will be offering free coffee  and an opportunity to gather together as a school community before the morning begins.

This will be followed by a short classroom activity, concluding at 9:30am, where mothers and special people are invited to join students in their learning spaces for a special shared experience.

To help families avoid needing to split time between siblings, older students will have the opportunity to join the youngest year level classroom during this session.

We value the important role that mothers and special people play in the lives of our students and look forward to celebrating this special morning with our families.

ANZAC Day Ceremony

Thank you to Mel Browne, who took a group of our Year 6 leaders to the annual schools ANZAC service run by the Box Hill RSL. As a school, we are proud to be represented at this important moment of recognition of the sacrifices made by people of all cultures and backgrounds to work towards peace and safety in our world.

A particularly special moment was when Aaliya and Ben stepped forward to lay a wreath on behalf of our school. They did so with great composure and respect, honouring those who have served our country. This act of remembrance was a powerful reminder of the role young people play in carrying forward the values of the ANZAC legacy and values we strive to uphold in our everyday lives.
