As we reach the end of Term 1, it is timely to reflect on what has been a productive and energising start to the year, while also looking ahead with anticipation to Term 2.
This term has been marked by several significant events and achievements. Our first La Luce Primary Immersion Program for the year was a wonderful success, offering an engaging and authentic experience for our future graduates and showcasing the warmth, talent, and leadership of our own girls and staff. It was a joy to see our Year 10 students take such pride in their roles as ambassadors.
Our recent Term 1 Exam Block ran smoothly across all year levels - all happening against the backdrop of an exciting construction project. Students approached this period with commendable focus and maturity. Similarly, our Years 7 and 9 students navigated the NAPLAN testing window with confidence, supported by careful preparation and the steady guidance of their teachers and teacher aides.
This week’s Year 8 STEM Science Display has been a highlight, with an impressive range of innovative and thoughtful work on show. The creativity, curiosity, and depth of understanding demonstrated by our students is something to be celebrated.
We have also seen excellent progress in our Critical and Philosophical Thinking programs across Years 7 - 9. These learning experiences continue to challenge students to think deeply, question thoughtfully, and engage meaningfully with complex ideas -skills that are essential for their academic and personal development.
As we reflect on these successes, it is important to acknowledge that strong academic outcomes are built on consistent attendance and meaningful engagement in learning. Being present, prepared, and actively involved in each lesson makes a significant difference, and we encourage all students to prioritise these habits as we move into Term 2.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our dedicated teaching staff and teacher aides for their professionalism, care, and commitment throughout a very full term. A special thanks to our Academic Deans - Dean of Middle Years, Mr Sam Yeats and Dean of Senior Years, Mrs Katrina Mansfield - for their supervision of our after-school academic mentoring program throughout Term 1. Their support and advice to students each week is very much appreciated.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed for Term 2 and building on the strong foundations established this term. Term 2 has plenty on offer and we ask that you are regularly accessing the MTA app to stay up to date with the academic happenings of Term 2 including:
With the Easter break upon us, I hope all members of our community find time for rest, renewal, and connection with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming our staff and students back next term.
Warm regards,
Ms Simone Roche
