Visual Arts

Throughout the past few weeks, and in conjunction with classroom learning, students in FAM and FLT have been investigating the central idea, ‘Senses help us explore the world’ through the Key Concepts of Connection and Causation. They have been involved in experiences and activities that awaken their senses to their world and the world around them. For example, students explored hearing through different types of music and reflected on how this makes them feel through art. They explored smell and touch through a modelling medium, clay, exploring its properties, using tools to manipulate and change texture and shape.
Students also used their sense of sight to view the works of others and have opportunities to provide feedback to their peers.
As stated, these amazing artists used clay (oh, magnificent clay!!!!) to create these wonderful sculptures. One of the magical qualities of clay is how responsive it is to the students’ manipulations, and clay activates all the senses.
