Principal's Message

What a lovely two weeks it has been at ENPS! I have been loving our special lunches on Thursdays with the Student of the Week token recipients. Last week in my absence, Marlo (6MP), Scarlett (4IW) and their friends Lexi and Renata lunched with Serena Walker, and this week it was lovely to have lunch with Alfie and Stella from 1AM, along with their friends Ashton and Penelope. They certainly had some great ideas for improving our school, and while I can't promise a trampoline or Minecraft room, I did really like the ideas for more home readers and improving our office areas!

A big shout out this week to Sam (4CT) who represented ENPS this week at the Divisional Cross Country! What a fabulous effort to place third! Sam will now compete at the next level of competition at the Regional carnival! Congratulations to all of our Cross Country runners from last week's District event too!

National Reconciliation Week

Our Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week assembly today was just amazing! I am so proud to know that our students have these opportunities to learn from, value and respect our First Nations people. National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week are hugely important to developing all of our understandings and being allies to our Indigenous cultures is a major step in that reconciliation. I sincerely thank all of our families who share this with us. Thank you to Sharon McWhinney who always leads the way in ensuring our intercultural events and celebrations are authentic, meaningful and connected to all members of our school and community.

Staffing Updates

It is that time of the year where even our staff aren’t immune to all of the coughs, colds and viruses going around. Just like everyone else, our teachers are people too and they can get sick. You may notice from time to time there are casual relief teachers (CRTs) filling in when teachers are absent. There may even be times where CRTs are not available and classes may be split across the year level. We thank everyone in advance for their understanding when this happens.

We send out get well wishes this week to Julie Schenk, our library technician. Julie is taking a few weeks off to recover after being sick and we wish her a speedy recovery. Over the coming weeks, as we head towards the end of the term, and then the start of a new term, we will also have some staff taking extended leave. Nicola Veneris will be heading overseas towards the end of the term, with David Harris (CRT) filling in for her during this period. We wish Nicola a safe trip away!

Kinder Visits and 2026 Foundation Enrolments

To add to my highlights reel, on Monday while there were no students at school, we had a wonderful visit from Essendon Journey Kindergarten and twenty-six of their four year old kinder students. It was a hoot showing them around the school and reading a story! I think I had more fun than they did! Last week I also had a visit to Guardian Kindergarten and spoke to the kinder parents at their information evening. We love getting to know our future Foundation students and supporting their transition to school journey with them and look forward to some of our other local kinders coming for a visit soon too!

Don’t forget that 2026 Foundation enrolments close on 25th July. We already have been inundated with applications to enrol from both within and beyond our school boundary and places will be limited. Please ensure your siblings enrolments are submitted as soon as possible to secure your spots for the coming year.

A Day In May

Thank you so sincerely to everyone who made our Day in May such a special day. To Marisa, Fabian and Mia Rosin, you will always have a place in our ENPS community and Marcus will always have a place in our hearts. Marcus’ legacy lives on and while many may not have now known Marcus personally, we all benefit from the connection with our Day in May. From our wonderful day last Thursday, all proceeds, totalling $3196.90 will go to the Marcus Rosin Fund.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone and stay safe and well. We still have a number of COVID cases across the school community along with a number of colds, flus and upset tummies! Winter is a time to stay health and warm. We sincerely thank families for keeping children home when they are sick.
