School Captains' Report

Wominjeka everyone, and welcome to our third newsletter of the term. There has been lots of things happening in our school community over the last few weeks!

Firstly, students in Years Three to Six competed in their Athletics Day. They did multiple sports activities such as long jump, triple jump, discus, shotput and the track events to earn points for their house team. Congratulations to Gurrin house who won the most overall points. Also a huge well done to all of the students for trying new things.

Last week, a group of students from the Years Three to Six District Cross Country team competed in the Districts competition. A huge congratulations to all students who competed in their event and we know you all did your best. Well done to Sam S and Ayaan were who were our age group champions, and to Sam for going on to compete at Divisionals this week!

Also last week, all Year Six students competed in their second to last Interschool sports game of the winter season versus Essendon Primary School. Well done to all the students who played and congratulations to the girls soccer team as well as the mixed AFL and girls netball teams for their first win of their season. This week the teams competed in their last game of the season versus Saint Monica’s. We would just like to give a huge shout out to the students for stepping out of their comfort zone and representing our school. Also it was great to see students from across the school showing up at lunch time to support our players.

Another highlight this fortnight has been the Year Five excursion to Sovereign Hill, where they learnt about the gold rush and had a turn panning for gold! They also got to buy lollies from the famous Sovereign Hill lolly shop.

Last week on the 22nd of May, our whole school participated in A Day In May. This is an event where we raise money for the Children's Cancer Foundation and remember a former student, Marcus Rosin, who sadly passed away from brain cancer. On the day, students had the choice to bring gold coins to spend on raffle tickets, hair spray, a bang of the drums, and lolly bags. There was also a stall selling bracelets and necklaces made by students to raise money for the Cancer Foundation.

Finally, we hope everyone has an amazing weekend and we can’t wait to see everyone next week!

Sincerely,

Your School Captains

Sam, Engy and Astin
