Performing Arts

Hi Everyone!

It’s been an exciting few weeks in Performing Arts!

Here’s a little overview of what we’ve been doing…

Foundation

Foundation students have been exploring their sense of hearing, sight and touch through dance and music. They even played on different musical instruments to create a rhythm circle in which they had to listen to each other to stay on the beat and also, include musical ‘rests’. They also performed dance sequences in which they had to stay connected to their dance partner and move together as a team.

Year One and Two

The Ones and Twos learnt about how different emotions can be expressed through music by using major or minor chords and scales. They also created their own Rhythm Circles, playing different percussion instruments and performed them in groups in front of the class.

Year Three and Four

The Threes and Fours turned their freeze frames about bullies into a Movement Story by connecting it with slow motion dance actions such as floor rolls, spins and jumps. Students also completed a responding task this week. They were asked to compare their own movement story about bullies to a professional shadow dance piece about bullying by identifying the similarities and differences.

Year Five and Six

The Fives and Sixes have begun their Video Clip creative processes. Students have chosen a video clip song and have filmed the first 30 seconds of their dance video clip. They have also completed a responding task in which they had to analyse a professional dance video clip and compare it to a dance video clip that was performed by non-professional dancers.

DANCE CLUB

The dance club students have been extremely diligent and put in extra rehearsal time to practise their ‘Makeba’ dance piece for this morning's Reconciliation Week assembly. We hope everyone enjoyed this joyful dance about celebrating cultures and human rights.

Have a great weekend!
