Design Technology

Students build on their Year 7 knowledge and extend learning on hand tools, their use and the skills related to them. Students undertake the construction of a receptacle as specified in their design brief. They use the skills of examining a problem, designing a solution and creating a final product. Students are expected to be creative in their designs and are encouraged to consider all design qualities and finishing techniques. 

It is also a requirement that they engage in problem solving when developing and constructing their design and continue to learn how to use hand-tools properly. It is important that the final product serves the function outlined in their design brief.
