Visual Communication and Design

Visual Communication aims to explore ideas using a variety of media with a particular emphasis on technical and 3D drawing. Throughout the curriculum students are encouraged to reflect on their own learning and explore various solutions for design problems. Students are required to demonstrate their technical competence in their use of skills, techniques and processes when engaging with the Visual Communication curriculum.
Students will develop and present visual communications for different purposes, intended audiences and in response to specific needs. They will identify and describe the use of methods, media, materials, design elements and design principles in visual communications from different historical, social and cultural contexts.
As Christians we need to be able to analyse, discern and appreciate artistic impressions and skill. We recognise the powerful impact of visual art within our society and learn to appreciate, use and develop the creative skills God has given each of us. The useful analytical and practical skills and concepts acquired in Visual Communication can be used in all other areas of the curriculum.
