FRESH TAKE - A YOUTH-LED CREATIVE MOVEMENT TACKLING VAPING THROUGH ART, STORYTELLING AND CAMPAIGN DESIGN
Developed in partnership with VicHealth, five local councils and creative professionals, the project brings together students across Terms 2 and 3 to build community campaigns that inspire change. Select MGSC students will participate in two immersive workshops, receive hands-on mentoring from industry creatives, and have the chance to exhibit their work in a professional showcase. MGSC were are invited to send 10 students to take part in Fresh Take – A Southside Creative Project, an exciting new vaping prevention initiative designed to empower young people to say no to vaping.
Kingston Youth Services has been working with the neighbouring local government areas to officially launch what’s on offer for schools in relation to vaping. Local Council’s (Stonnington, Port Phillip, Bayside, Glen Eira & Kingston) and their health partners (Better Health Network, Caulfield Community Health Service & South-East Public Health Unit) feel a strong responsibility to support schools and communities in addressing this escalating health concern.
This workshop series will turn students into creative changemakers through hands-on campaign development. Students will have the chance to win $10K in creative prizes for their school, including professional production equipment and tools to develop their skills and support their next big idea. Fresh Take is all about empowering students to lead vaping prevention through creative action.
