College Matters

Term 2 has seen MGSC students enthusiastically participate in a wide range of opportunities beyond the classroom including interschool sports, cross country, music performances, Outdoor Education camps, various curriculum-based excursions, Work Experience, and leadership events. These experiences not only allow students to develop new skills and explore their interests but also help foster positive relationships with peers and staff. Whether stepping up to lead on camp, performing in front of an audience, or competing as part of a team, MGSC students are reaching beyond their comfort zones in ways that build confidence and resilience. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represent the school in these settings with integrity, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of community.
Congratulations to the 70 MGSC students who qualified for the 2025 Aerobics and Dance National Finals in Tasmania next term. We are so proud of you! Thank you to their amazing coaches and to Ms Tess Molina, who leads our incredible Aerobics and Dance program.
With the colder weather well and truly upon us and as winter sets in, we are seeing an increase in colds, flu, and other seasonal illnesses. To help prevent the spread of germs and keep our school community healthy, we remind students and families to:
- Stay home if feeling unwell.
- Practice good hand hygiene by washing hands regularly with soap or using hand sanitiser.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow.
- Avoid sharing food, drinks, and personal items.
These small steps make a big difference in keeping everyone well and maintaining a productive learning environment.
For our Year 9, 10, and 11 students, exam time is fast approaching. Teachers are supporting students in revising key concepts, developing study strategies, and preparing for various assessment formats. Students are encouraged to:
- Begin revising early and plan their study time across all subjects.
- Prioritise rest, nutrition, and exercise to support focus and energy.
- Seek support from teachers if unsure about any content or expectations.
Families can support by helping students maintain balance at home and reminding them that exams are a learning experience and an opportunity to demonstrate how much they have learned this semester.
Living Our School Values
Inclusivity - We value every member of our community and are committed to creating a culture where all students feel seen, heard, and respected. Whether it's through classroom collaboration, lunchtime clubs, or inclusive language, we continue to build a school where everyone belongs.
Achievement- We celebrate the effort and progress of every student - not just final results. By fostering a growth mindset, we empower students to set goals, overcome challenges, and take pride in their learning journey.
Empowerment - Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning, behaviour, and voice within the school. From leadership opportunities to collaborative projects, we aim to equip young people with the skills and confidence to shape their own futures.
Creativity - Creativity is more than just artistic expression — it’s about thinking critically, solving problems, and approaching tasks in innovative ways. Across all subjects, we nurture curiosity and originality in our students.
As we pass the halfway point of Term 2, we thank families for your continued support in helping our students thrive.
