Amazing 5/6

Term 2 - Week 6

A message from the teachers

Over the past two weeks, the Year 5 & 6 students have been very busy with a series of numeracy and literacy assessments and we have seen fantastic efforts across the board. Many students showed excellent understanding in their reading and writing tasks, with improvements noted in their vocabulary usage and crating pieces that followed the expected text structure. In mathematics, the students have shown resilience of the course of a number of online and physical assessments, particularly in topics like extended multiplication and division. It's clear that the hard work and revision leading up to these assessments paid off, and the results are showing the dedication of the students. As the term finishes, both year levels will begin shifting into perimeter and area.

In addition to their academic achievements, our Year 5 & 6 students have shone in the sports arena! The school’s recent inter-school sports matches have been fiercely competitive and all of the teams are looking forward to the lightning premiership in a few weeks. Shout outs have to go to the boys soccer team who have turned around a rough start and are beginning to put together some nice wins.

We are proud of how the students have conducted themselves throughout these busy weeks. There has been a noticeable increase in kindness and respect towards one another, both inside and outside the classroom. Whether it’s helping each other with schoolwork, sharing ideas during discussions, or supporting each other in group activities, the overall atmosphere has been one of cooperation and respect. Unfortunately for the students, now that we know that they can do this, we expect it for the rest of the year! Overall, the last fortnight has been a highly productive and positive time for Year 5 & 6. The students have truly demonstrated their abilities both in and out of the classroom, and we look forward to seeing even more growth in the weeks ahead. Keep up the great work, Year 5 & 6!
