Wonderful 1

The 0ne-der Stars 1s
Term 2 Week 8 2025 - Friday 13th June
What have we been up to?
We’ve had a wonderful couple of weeks in Grade 1, filled with learning, creativity, and fun!
We’ve begun reading ‘Mirror’ by Jeannie Baker, a beautiful picture book that tells two stories side-by-side, one set in Australia and the other in Morocco. Students have been carefully observing the illustrations and discussing the daily routines of the two families. It’s been incredible to see them notice both the similarities and differences, and share their thoughtful insights with their classmates during our group discussions.
Students started their writing assessments. They have been working hard to plan, draft, and edit their writing, showing all the amazing skills they’ve developed this semester. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow!
In Maths, we’ve been wrapping up our Measurement unit, focusing on length and mass. Students have been using informal units to measure objects around the classroom and comparing weights. We also completed some assessments to see how much we've learned this semester. Everyone has worked very hard, and we’re proud of their efforts!
School photo day was a big hit! The children looked fantastic in their uniforms and had a lot of fun posing for their pictures. We’re all excited to see the final photos when they arrive next term!
We hope everyone enjoyed the recent long weekend and had a chance to relax and spend time with family. It was lovely hearing students share their weekend adventures when they returned to school.
As we move closer to the end of the term, we’re looking forward to more learning, celebrating achievements, and continuing to support each other in our classroom community.
Here are some photo highlights from the fortnight that was.

1B measured their classroom with blocks - it was 400 blocks long!
